The Lightyears on your telly-box
3 December 2009
So… the inaugural nationwide tour of Josh’s Band is now over. We’ve been to Birmingham, Bristol, London, Edinburgh and Manchester and played to (and with!) over 1,100 people. It’s been an incredible experience to be part of Josh’s core band and the general consensus is that all of this is merely the beginning.
Work on the track we wrote for the campaign – “Come With Me” – continues apace and it is due for release on a major record label in January. The final recording will feature hundreds of musicians and singers from all over the UK. The first advert (covering the dates in Birmingham, London and Bristol) has already hit your TV screens. The follow-up (covering Edinburgh and Manchester) is out next week.
Thanks to Josh for having us onboard and to all the fantastic performers who joined us on the tour. Josh will be making a guest appearance at our gig tomorrow night (Friday 4 December) at The Troubadour in Earls Court and it is highly likely that a mass singalong will ensue… hope to see you there!
Lightyears Christmas party – this Friday night
3 December 2009
Your last chance to see The Lightyears live in 2009 is this Friday night (4 December) at The Troubadour in Earls Court. We’re throwing an enormous, super-shiny Christmas party to usher in the festive season and promise to lavish all kinds of delectable rock treats upon everybody present.
Tickets are selling fast so it’s advisable to buy in advance by clicking here or turn up early! Doors are at 8pm; music starts 8.15pm; LYs onstage 9.45pm. Door tickets are £6 before 9pm and £7 afterwards.
Support comes from Iain Hornal’s new act Young Squires, Neil Thomas and Shaun Russell.
We’ve also invited a few special guests down, including Josh Ward, star of the T-Mobile superband adverts. Josh will be joining us for a performance of “Come With Me“, the song we wrote for the campaign. The track is due for release on a major record label in January. Not to be missed!
Buy tickets for the LYs’ Christmas Party
2 October 2009
We’re headlining The Troubadour in Earls Court on Friday 4 December and it’ll be a MASSIVE Christmas party to celebrate the coming of the festive season.
Tickets are now on sale. Buy yours by clicking here!
Advance tickets cost £6. Tickets on the door will cost £7 before 9.30pm and £8 afterwards. Buying in advance is advisable as THIS GIG WILL SELL OUT.
We were aware of a few technical/timing issues at our last Troubadour gig but we’ll be ironing those out this time by running the night ourselves. So expect superior sound quality and faultless punctuality! (Because, let’s face it, there’s nothing more rock ‘n’ roll than being punctual.)
On top of The Lightyears there’ll be music from Shaun Russell, Neil Thomas and The Iain Hornal Experience. Iain is the former frontman of the wonderful Genius, who some of you may remember from a couple of years back when they were touring with The Feeling. After our set, DJ Mark Love will keep the party going long into the night. All-in-all, the place will be heaving with seasonal merriment, wondrous dancing and joy to all men. It’ll be just like Christmas Day, only you won’t have to waste hours trying to fit AAA batteries into an ultimately disappointing remote-controlled helicopter.
…Remember Fezzywig’s Christmas Party in the Charles Dickens novel “A Christmas Carol”? Well, it’s going to be exactly like that. But without the smallpox.
Doors 8pm, first act 8.15. LYs onstage 9.45pm. Full details on the GIGS page.
Tickets on sale for Lightyears in Spring City USA
23 June 2009
Tickets are now on sale for our show at Chaplin’s in Spring City, USA, on Friday 31 July. Buy yours now by clicking here.
This year’s whirlwind US tour will be taking us to three states – New York City, New Jersey and Pennsylvania – over a jam-packed week that is in danger of ripping a massive hole in the rock-time continuum.
Chaplin’s Music Cafe in Spring City, just outside Phoenixville, is famous for hosting the man himself, Mr Charlie Chaplin, as part of a travelling revue back in 1916. Little did he know that his big-trousered antics would later manifest themselves in popular youth culture in the guise of MC Hammer. Had he known, would he have continued? Would he have simply worn smaller trousers? We simply can’t say.
If you’re a New Yorker, you can catch us for free on Thursday 30 July headlining Union Square’s “Music In The Square” summer season. Fans in Philly can also catch us at Milkboy Coffee on Saturday 1 August and Burlington Amphitheatre on Sunday 2 August.
For full details, click here to visit the gigs page.
As for you Londoners, don’t forget we’re playing The Troubadour on Friday 24 July. Demand for tickets has been high and it’s advisable to buy in advance to avoid disappointment. Click here to buy yours.
Anybody who comes to the gigs in both London and New York (bear in mind that they’re within the same week) gets five free copies of our album, a signed poster and a big kiss.*
*Tony, that doesn’t include you.

We realise we’ve been neglecting you Londoners for a little while now, swanning off to South Africa, USA and the like and generally failing to appear onstage anywhere inside the M25. “Yes,” we’ve heard you all cry, “stadium gigs are all very well and everything but what about your loyal fans in The Big Smoke? Don’t we get a look-in?”.
Well, yes – you certainly do. Many of you will have seen us play at The Troubadour in Earls Court before and so you’ll know it to be a rocking little venue. Historically we tend to sell the place out so be sure to get in early and buy your tickets in advance!
It’ll be a busy bill on the 24th and we’ve only been allocated a small number of advance tickets – so if you want to be sure of your place in the sun, click here to book your ticket now.
